Tecumseh Hosts Rock and Roll BBQ Festival
The inaugural Rock and Roll BBQ Festival is scheduled from 5 to 12:30 p.m. on Friday in Tecumseh.
Tecumseh musicians Kevin McKinney and David Carnagey asked the Tecumseh City Council in June to hold the music festival to give local talent opportunity to take the stage. It was decided to try the concert with a barbecue to precede the extreme bull riding on Saturday.
Carnagey says the event will introduce local talent.
"We've all played together over the past nine years. I have a three-piece band with a female singer, and Kevin has a two-piece band called Hit and Run and then there's Glory Days, which is Jeremy, Darin, Kevin and Scott, and then there's my band called Red X."
Carnagey is also providing the barbecue.
Carnagey: "I love to cook for one thing. I want to do something for the community. They got barbecue. There are a couple of barbecue places out of town, but they haven't had the Texas one yet, so I think it's time."
The event will conclude with all 20 musicians playing together at the band shell.
